Toxicology

Drug screening and confirmation is nothing new to healthcare. With improved technologies and increased scrutiny with prescribing pain medications, toxicology testing for patients has become the standard of care with pain clinics and primary care practices. Due to the epidemic of pain pill addiction, the CDC recommends healthcare providers screen and monitor their patients for substance abuse. In addition to standard Qualitative testing, Quantitative drug testing provides a comprehensive picture by reporting the exact measures of drugs in a patient’s system.

Pharmacy Compounding

Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing personalized medications for patients. Compounded medications are “made from scratch” – individual ingredients are mixed together in the exact strength and dosage form needed by the patient. This method allows the compounding pharmacist to work with the patient and the prescriber to customize a medication to meet the patient’s specific needs.

At one time, nearly all prescriptions were compounded. With the advent of mass drug manufacturing in the 1950s and ’60s, compounding rapidly declined. The pharmacist’s role as a preparer of medications quickly changed to that of a dispenser of manufactured dosage forms, and most pharmacists were no longer trained to compound medications. However, the “one-size-fits-all” nature of many mass-produced medications meant that some patients’ needs were not being met.” (Information obtained from Professional Compounding Centers of America – PCCAwww.pccarx.com)

Therapy Options

for Pain, Inflammation, Migraine, Nausea, Gout, Wound, Scars and other dermatological flare ups.

Genetic Testing

Pharmacogenomics is the key to personalized medicine, using DNA testing to learn what impact the individuals’ genetic profile will have on the effectiveness of a variety of drugs. As a physician, your patients rely on you to determine the right medication for optimal health outcomes. However, finding the best medication and dosage for each patient can be a challenge…until now. Pharmacogenomics testing will provide the physician with the correct medication and dose, and eliminate the guess work and titration.

Advanced Lipids/Labs

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in men and women in the U.S. Despite improvements in device technology and understanding/education of heart disease, clinicians continue to use the standard Friedewald equation to compute the atherosclerotic disease progression. Although a good testing measurement, the technology was put into practice in 1972. Since then, there have been newly developed technologies to measure LDL, HDL and Triglycerides with greater accuracy, to include sub-particle fractions of these molecules, and include an inflammation profile and advanced risk markers like; Lipoprotein (a), Apo-B, Apo A-1, LpPLA2. Ordering these new lab panels will not only improve patient care, but will give the clinician better information, allowing for better evaluation of therapy options.

Food and Nutrition Services

KellMed LLC provides wholesale nutrition products and food services to hospitals, prisons and other state/federal agencies.

Medical Imaging

Mobile imaging services include general ultrasounds, vascular ultrasounds, echocardiograms and nuclear stress testing in a physician’s office. These tests are ordered daily by physicians but generally are sent out to a hospital, imaging center or a specialist’s office. Our goal with Mergence Healthcare is to bring testing back into the PCP’s office. It is proven; patients prefer to have the majority of testing done in their PCP’s office due to a trusting relationship with the physician and an existing relationship with the staff. In addition, being an established patient minimizes paper work and reduces the patients “out of pocket” cost.
